America's Next Top Model British Invasion Episode 8 Recap/Review

As you might recall, Sophie won best photo last week, so the Brits were ahead 4 to 3 at the start of this week's episode.

Alicia responded to the judges' criticism by promising to prove that she can be a good model, not just good in commercials.

This week, the girls went to The Beverly Hills hotel.  The models learned that four fashion designers were competing to win the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize, which awarded the winning designer with $40,000.  Each designer had to pick a model to open their runway shows for them.  Any girl who was not picked to open a show would be walking in the rest of the show.

Kelly (one of the panel judges) wasn't impressed by any of the girls' walks.  I'm sort of surprised they didn't have Miss J there for this challenge, since he is the runway coach on the show.

Anyway, Anndra Neen chose Alicia to open, Julain Louie chose Annaliese, and both Giuletta and Siki Im chose Sophie to open for their shows.  The rest of the girls walked in the rest of the fashion shows, which undoubtedly got them a lot of exposure, even if they didn't get to open.

Seymone had a bad attitude again before the runway shows started as she didn't get picked to open for anyone.  The other girls reminded her that nobody would want to work with her if word gets around that she has such a bad attitude when things don't go her way.

The winner of the Dorchester Collection Fashion Prize ended up being Anndra Neen, which Alicia was very happy about.

This week's photo shoot depicted the girls sporting some couture Hello Kitty designs.  I love Hello Kitty by the way, so this was pretty exciting and fun for me to watch.  The photographer was 16-year-old Anne He.

Most of the British girls did well in this photo shoot.  Sophie seemed a little lost.  Eboni and Seymone also struggled a lot this week.  Seymone seemed angry that the head piece was digging into her head and Mr. J called her out on her attitude again, reminding her that fashion is never comfortable.

This week's guest judge at panel was Georgina Chapman.  The panel had these things to say about the girls' photo shoot this week:

Seymone - Tyra thought the shot looked like, "show and tell."  Nigel liked Seymone's face, but didn't like her body position.

Eboni - The judges thought the playfulness she should have brought to the shot was missing.  Kelly mentioned (during deliberations) that Eboni hadn't worn her pigtails to this week's challenge.  She wondered if Eboni was trying to insult them?

Laura - Tyra remarked that the photo reminded her of her childhood.

Sophie - The judges seemed to like her body position, but didn't really like her face all that much.

Catherine - The judges loved her face this week.

Annaliese - They liked her face, but not her body position.

Alicia - The judges really liked her photo this week.  Her photo was "fierce."

Best photo this week went to Alicia.  I guess she did prove that she can model :)  Runner-up for best photo this week was Sophie, which surprised me because Mr. Jay complained a lot on set about Sophie looking lost and confused.

Eboni and Seymone were in the bottom two this week.  Seymone went home due to her bad attitude and the fact that the judges weren't sure if she wanted to win badly enough.

Will the American's keep losing?  Do you think an American or a Brit will win this season?  Please share your thoughts in the comments section.
