America's Next Top Model British Invasion Recap: Double Elimination

At the beginning of this week's episode, three U.K. girls and two Americans remained in the competition.  After panel where Catherine had been eliminated, the girls return to their "home" as usual.  Laura was feeling pretty good as she won best photo last week.  While Laura appreciated Sophie being happy for her, she tells us that the other girls were just waiting for her to fall.  Laura also made her dislike for Eboni apparent to us again this week, calling her a spoiled brat.

Alisha struggled with being in the bottom two again.  She admitted she doesn't understand what the judges want from her.

The girls had their challenge in Hong Kong this week.  On the way there, Laura talked with the girls about sex, which annoyed them all, especially Alisha.

The challenge this week involves the girls acting out a fight scene.  The prize was another trip back to Hong Kong and a place in Nicholas Tse's music video.  All the girls worked with assistants to practice the fight scene before they were given one take to perform it to be judged.  Since Laura got best photo last week she was given the opportunity to work with Nicholas Tse, which really irked some of the other models.

The models really didn't do a great job with the acting scene.  Eboni messed up her last line, but she was a good sport about it all.  Sophie imagined she was taking down each model for her inspiration in the fight scene. Alisha remarked, "It's like glitter coming out of her (Sophie's) fists."  Laura told the camera how cute she thought Nicholas was and how that made her nervous.  During her take, Laura flung her hair around like she sees actresses do in the movies.  Apparently Nicholas Tse liked this, remarking that Laura remembered that she was a model as well as an actress in the scene.  Laura was declared the winner, which made Alisha quite upset.

The next morning, the models were awakened early by hair and makeup for their photo shoot.  They arrived and the Macau Tower where Mr. Jay was waiting for them.  He informs them that they will be doing a shoot on top of the tower, 764 feet above the ground.  Sophie was clearly upset about the news as she's terrified of heights.

When asked to go first, Sophie asks Nigel Barker (the photographer for the day) if someone else can go before she does.  He is understanding about her fear and asks for a volunteer to go first.  Laura volunteers, but Sophie decides she'll go ahead and go first after all.  Although Sophie is crying and clearly very scared, she makes it through the entire shoot.  Afterwards, she breaks down.  She's proud of herself for facing such a huge fear.

The other girls were scared, too.  That is, except for Laura.  Laura receives a lot of praise from both Nigel and Mr. Jay.  The rest of the girls did pretty well in the shoot considering how terrifying it was for nearly all of them.

Panel was the next day.  Nicholas Tse was the guest judge.  Here's what they had to say about the girls this week:

Annaliese - Kelly really liked this shot - she remarked that it looked like a yoga warrior pose.  Tyra told Annaliese to relax her nose in the future.  How you do that is beyond me...  Nigel also really liked the photo, complimenting how Annaliese worked with her harness.

Sophie - Kelly didn't really like Sophie's pose this week.  Nicholas was impressed that Sophie didn't look terrified after she had shared how terrifying the photo shoot was for her.

Alisha - Tyra wanted more neck from her, which is sort of amusing because on set, Alisha was told to lower her neck by Mr. Jay because you could see up her nose in every shot.  Nigel didn't care for Alisha's pose in the photo.  During deliberations, Kelly expressed concern for the fact that Alisha doesn't seem to take good photos.  The judges discussed whether they should keep her or whether they should keep someone who doesn't look like a model, but photographs well.

Laura - Tyra remarked that Laura knows her angles.  Kelly and Nigel both loved the photo as well, though Nigel would have liked to see more leg extension in the photo.

Eboni - The judges didn't like her facial expression in the photo - which is something Eboni had tried to focus on in her photo shoot this week.

Best photo went to Laura this week.  Runner-up for best photo went to Sophie.  Annaliese was called third. Eboni and Alisha were left in the bottom two.

Eboni was chosen for elimination.  However, when Alisha's name was called to remain in the competition, she shook her head and told Tyra she couldn't stay.  She said she wasn't being ungrateful, but she would rather walk away from the competition and get her spirit back.  She told the judges she didn't want to take the opportunity away from any of the other models.

At this point, I expected Tyra to let Alisha go and tell Eboni she could stay in the competition.  That didn't happen.  Tyra told Alisha she could go, but.....Eboni had to go with her!  I was really shocked, not only because it was a double elimination, but because I have never seen anyone drop out of the competition so late in the season before.

What do you think about this week's double elimination?  Who do you think will win America's Next Top Model and why?
