Big Brother 14 Recap September 12, 2012: Special Eviction

Tonight's episode of Big Brother 14 contained a special, surprise eviction.

After the nomination ceremony, Jenn is tired of Dan always managing to get out of tight situations. Dan's quite pleased with himself for getting Ian to put Shane up on the nomination block with Jenn.  Dan tries to calm Jenn down by telling her his plan is to get Shane out of the house this week.

Danielle confides in Jenn that she's worried Shane doesn't really like her.

Power of Veto

Ian wants to win the Power of Veto in order to keep his nominations the same and get the Quack Pack to the final four.  Poor Ian thinks he still has a solid alliance.  Dan wants the nominations to stay the same so he can get Shane evicted.  Of course Shane wants to win so he can take himself off the block.

In this Power of Veto competition, the houseguests must fly between two platforms in order to put together a puzzle on a magnetized board.  They must hit a button every 20 seconds in order to keep their puzzle boards magnetized.  If they don't hit the button in time, the pieces fall off the board.  Additionally, if they don't hit the button in time, they only have 10 seconds to hit it after  the board has been demagnetized or they are out of the competition altogether.

Shane's strategy is to try and assemble the puzzle on the ground before putting the pieces on the board.  Dan puts all of his pieces on the board and stands at a distance to try and solve it in his head first.  Ian can't seem to get the timing right, so his board keeps demagnetizing.  Eventually Ian is eliminated from the competition because his clock totally runs out of time.

After he's eliminated, Ian starts helping Shane with his puzzle, which doesn't make Dan too happy. Shane ends up winning the Power of Veto.

As winner of the Power of Veto this week, Shane also gets a luxury prize.  He gets a trip out of the house and he gets to choose one other houseguest to come with him.  He chooses Danielle.  It's sort of like their first official date.  They are so excited to see people outside the house.  It's rather amusing.

In the limo, they hold hands and talk about how great it is to be out of the house for a while.

When they get to their destination, they learn they're going to meet the Fierce Five, the U.S. Women's Olympic Gymnastics team.  Danielle tells us she used to do gymnastics, so she's especially excited to meet the girls.

After meeting the Fierce Five, Shane and Danielle get to watch them in a show.  Danielle keeps talking about how sweet Shane was on their date.

Veto Meeting

At the veto meeting, Shane uses the Power of Veto to take himself off the block (no surprise there).  Ian decides to put Danielle up in his place, telling everyone he doesn't want to give the "couple" both votes this week.

America's Vote

America gets to vote on their favorite player this season, who will receive $25,000.  Of course Willie isn't eligible for the prize because he was expelled from the game.

Eviction

Shane and Dan both vote to evict Jenn.  So Jenn leaves the Big Brother house, leaving the Quack Pack as the final four.

Julie Chenn asks if Jenn regrets using her Power of Veto on Dan and Jenn says she has no regrets at all.  Since she's been on slop for four weeks, Julie gives Jenn a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, and Jenn is overjoyed by that.

Head of Household Competition

In this Head of Household competition, the houseguests must recall some photos they saw earlier in the day.  They must determine if each statement Julie reads is true or false.  After seven questions, whoever has the most points (correct answers) is the new Head of Household.

Question 1: Everyone gets it right.
Question 2: Everyone gets it right.
Question 3: Danielle and Shane get it right.
Question 4: Dan and Shane get it right.
Question 5: Dan and Danielle get it right.
Question 6: Dan and Danielle get it right.
Question 7: Everyone gets it right.

At the end of seven questions, Dan and Danielle are tied, so Julie goes to a tie-breaker question.  The tie-breaker question is: How many seconds did the puzzle board (last) Power of Veto competition last?

Dan guesses 626 seconds.
Danielle guesses 155 seconds.

The correct answer is 584.

That means, Danielle is the new HoH.

I think it will be rather interesting to see who Danielle puts up for nominations.  Who does she think she has the best chance against in the final three?  Will she finally choose between Dan and Shane?

Tune in tomorrow to see who wins the final Power of Veto competition and who gets evicted.
