Big Brother 14 September 9, 2012 Recap: Dan's Real Target

I don't know about anyone else, but I was on the edge of my seat during tonight's Big Brother 14 HoH competition.

Double Eviction

The producers show us some of the strategizing and game play that went on during Thursday's double eviction episode we didn't get to see on Thursday.  It turns out that Joe wasn't Dan's target - Ian was!  Dan made sure everyone was on board for voting Ian out while he reassured Ian that he was merely a pawn.

When Ian won the Power of Veto competition, Dan had to come up with a replacement nominee.  He wanted to put Shane up, but Danielle didn't want to vote him out.  She tells us that she knows she'll have to decide between Dan and Shane eventually, but she doesn't want to do that tonight.  So Dan ends up putting Danielle next to Joe on the block.  Meanwhile, Dan had told Jenn that he was going to put Shane up, so Jenn gets upset when Dan puts up Danielle instead.

After Dan's reign as HoH, everyone's mad at him.  Jenn's mad at him because he didn't put Shane up.  Danielle's angry at him because he put her up on the block next to Joe.  Ian's mad at him because he didn't get Jenn out of the house instead of Joe because she's a "stronger floater" than Joe was.

Dan convinces Danielle to help him do damage control.  Danielle talks to Shane and lets him know that Dan originally wanted to put him up as a replacement nominee against Joe.  She tells him Shane would have only been a pawn, which isn't true, of course, but Shane buys it.  She says she saved him from being on the block and he says he appreciates it and owes her one.

Dan goes to Ian to make sure they still have a Final Two deal.  Dan doesn't really want to sit next to Ian in the end, though, because he doesn't think he can win against Ian.

Head of Household Competition

I've come to like Ian a lot as a player in this game, so when I find out that everyone wants him out of the house, I get nervous.

In this Head of Household competition, the houseguests must drop a ball into the correct day an event occurred in the house.  So, even if you know the right answer, getting the ball into the right slot isn't necessarily an easy task.

After five rounds, Jenn and Danielle are eliminated.  Ian and Shane are tied, which is sad because Ian has a photographic memory.

They both know the right answer to the last question, but who will get their ball closest to the right slot?  It's Ian!  So Ian's won his second HoH competition and nobody seems all that happy about it (but I am!).

Pandora's Box

Ian is offered his second Pandora's Box.  Now given that nothing bad has happened to the opener of Pandora's Box this season yet, I would have expected something bad to happen to me if I opened it.  Ian sees a picture of his parents on the screen, though, and thinks he's getting a video message from them.  He decides to open Pandora's Box.

Poor Ian gets a bad surprise!  It's not his parents who have a video message for him; it's Rachel Reilly, winner of Big Brother 13.  Ian's not amused.  In fact, he has to work at not vomiting during the message.

Meanwhile, the rest of the houseguests get messages from their loved ones.  Jenn gets a message from her mom.  Shane and Danielle both get messages from their sisters.  Dan gets a message from his wife.  He starts crying when he sees her, but gets upset with himself later in the diary room because he doesn't like to show emotions in the game.

Nominations

Ian wants to put Dan up next to Jenn as a pawn in order to cover up their Renegades 2.0 alliance.  Obviously Dan doesn't like that idea much and suggests Ian put Shane up next to Jenn instead.  Dan tells Ian he can tell everyone that Shane is a strong competitor in the house and that's why he's going on the block this week.

Ian nominates Jenn and Shane for eviction.  Danielle isn't sure she can vote Shane out of the house yet.  It should be interesting to see what she decides on Wednesday.

This Wednesday is a special eviction episode.  Tune in to see who will be the next to leave the Big Brother house.
