MasterChef Season Three Premiere Part Two Recap

Thirteen contestants were given aprons in part one of the premiere of MasterChef.  In part two, Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot, and Joe Bastianich continue who will and will not be allowed to continue on in hopes of becoming the next MasterChef.

Each home cook has one hour to prepare his or her best dish and then present it to the judges.

One of the standout contestants in part two of the premiere was a guy named Lucca from Italy.  The producers showed some of his back story and even flew his mother in from Italy to support him.  It was really sweet to see mother and son bond before Lucca went in for judging.  Lucca and Joe Bastianich exchanged some Italian conversation.  I was rooting for him to make it, but the judges decided he wasn't ready to advance in the competition.

Another hopeful trying out for the show was a woman named Hyza.  She seemed kind of spacey as she forgot her rolling pin when she went in for judging and had to run back out to get it.  She talked a lot - more than she cooked - really.  The judges loved her dish, though, so they awarded her with an apron.

There was a string of cowboys trying out for the show as well.  The last cowboy to tryout was a man named Mike.  Mike said he wanted to win the competition for his sister, who had been killed in a car accident six months ago.  Mike came in to the judging room on a horse, which naturally made the judges skeptical, but it sure made Mike stand out at the same time!  They ended up liking his dish and sent him on through with an apron.

Laura and AJ, a married couple, wanted to see who was a better cook, so they both tried out for the show.  The judges ended up giving them both aprons.  It should be interesting to see what happens with these two.

A guy named Frank also made it onto the show.  He asked Joe to smile when he tasted his food.  LOL.  I have a feeling this guy will be pretty amusing to watch.

Who was your favorite contestant from part two of the MasterChef premiere?
