Big Brother 14 Recap July 25, 2012: Nominations and Power of Veto Competition

There weren't any surprises in tonight's episode of Big Brother 14.

The show starts with recapping the event that led to Willie getting removed from the game.  Frank has to make nominations for eviction, and it's pretty obvious who's he's going to put up on the block this week.

Frank, Boogie, and Janelle are thrilled that Frank still gets to nominate two houseguests for eviction.  Boogie suggests Frank puts up someone from their team against JoJo so that they can backdoor Shane, but Janelle doesn't really like this idea.

Shane and JoJo are upset because they know they will both be nominated for eviction all because of Willie's actions and it's not fair.

JoJo tries to plead her case to Frank, but Frank is unsympathetic.  He reminds her of the conversation they had where he told her if she voted with Willie, he'd be against her.  JoJo points out that *everyone* is playing with their team and coaches, and that she was being loyal to hers by voting with Willie.

The nominations are, as everyone expected, JoJo and Shane.  Frank admits that Willie is the reason they are on the block.  To us, Frank says his real target is Shane.

Brittney feels terrible.  She feels like there's nothing she can do to help her players (and she's right, there really isn't anything she can do to help).

Boogie tells Frank he needs to start sucking up to Shane and JoJo because one of them will be staying in the house.  The whole thing is just terrible.  I mean, I know it's strategy, but it's so two-faced and ugly.

Ashley says she's ready to get married, she's dated a lot of frogs in her time.  The producers show us about a minute of her listing all the things she wants in a potential husban, a lot of them being very superficial (in my opinion).

America's Vote:

We get to vote on the following foods for the Have Nots for next week:

Cereal and Salmon
Garbonzo beans and Giblets
Lima beans and Lemons

Heck, I don't even get to eat salmon but once in a blue moon!  If they get cereal and salmon, I'm going to be jealous!!

It's time for the Power of Veto competition.  Ian, Ashley, and Wil are chosen to play in the veto competition and Frank chooses Joe to be the host.  All the houseguests not participating in the competition, get to sit back and enjoy margaritas and watch.

The participants are dressed up as tortilla chips and there are giant tubs of guacamole, beans, and cheese in the yard.

The participants have to dive into the big tubs and dig out food names.  They have to make their menus match the main menu perfectly.  The person who matches the most number of items the fastest wins the Power of Veto.  This challenge is right up Ian's alley as he tells us he has a photographic memory.  Shane says he has a very bad short-term memory, so he may struggle here.

At the end of the competition, the results are:

Ashley gets 13/16 with the slowest time.
Wil is next with all 16 right.
Frank gets all 16 correct.
JoJo gets all of them right.
Ian gets all of them right.
Shane gets all of them right in the fastest time.

So, Shane wins the Power of Veto, much to Frank's dismay.  Danielle is also upset because she knows she'll be the replacement nominee.  Brittney jumps into the tub of guacamole with Shane, LOL.

Shane goes upstairs to talk with Frank and Boogie.  He offers Frank a final two deal.  Boogie tells Shane not to say a word about the deal to anyone, including Brittney.  Oh Shane.....you can't see how badly they are using you, can you?  It's kind of sad that he trusts so easily, especially seeing as these people want him out of the house.

Dan tells Danielle he's going to distance himself from her to try to keep her in the house longer.  He wants her to stand up and fight to be here, but she seems to want to give up (and I ca't say I blame her, either).  She's having an emotional breakdown and feels defeated and abandoned.

Shane approaches Frank with a plan to backdoor Wil, promising him that he, JoJo, and Danielle will keep him safe next week if he goes along with it.  But Frank decides it's too early to turn on Janelle's players.

Shane uses the Power of Veto on himself and Frank decides to nominate Danielle in his place.  We all knew that would happen.

Tomorrow night is the live eviction.  It will probably be JoJo, but I guess we'll see if some drastic turn of events leads to Danielle getting evicted.
