Big Brother 14 Sunday July 29, 2012 Recap: Coaches Competition and Nominations

As you may recall, Shane won the Head of Household competition on Thursday night.  Tonight he made nominations for the week.  The coach's competition also took place.

When Shane wins the Head of Household (HoH), a lot of people in the house seem scared as they know Shane is probably coming after them this week.  Frank feels confident that he's safe this week because he and Boogie proposed a deal to Shane last week while Frank was HoH.  That was good planning on their part.  Wil seems to think he is going on the block this week.

Brittney wants to go after both Boogie and Janelle's teams since they both had a hand in her losing two team players last week.

Nobody really wants to go up and see Shane's HoH room, but everyone does.  It's awkward because no one says much of anything and nobody wants to be the first person to leave the room, so they're all sitting around waiting for someone to be the first person to leave.

Dan and Brittney feel like Danielle and Shane are their kids who are dating.  Brittney says they need to talk to them and remind them to keep their alliance a secret (though I think everyone in the house probably already knows about those two since they've been flirting a lot).

Dan, Brittney, and Danielle want Shane to put Frank on the block, but he's made a deal with Frank and he doesn't want to betray him.  Shane admits his main target this week is Wil.

Jenn talks about how she came out to her parents.  Danielle admits to us that when she came into the Big Brother house, she was afraid a lesbian would be on the show and that she would hit on Danielle. But the conversation with Jenn has made Danielle less afraid of lesbians.

Ashley talks about her dream boards.

Joe cooks Shane breakfast to try and suck up to him.

The Coaches Competition

This week's coaches competition is workout-based.  The coaches have to compete in three heats where the coach who does the fewest number of reps in each heat is eliminated.  When a coach is eliminated, he or she gets to pick a locker, which holds a prize.

The first heat involves butt thrusts where they have to move a chair back and forth.  Brittney is eliminated.  She gets to choose the two Have Nots for the week.  Ian volunteers himself to be a Have Not again, so she chooses him and Joe.

The second heat involves hip movement.  Boogie loses.  He gets to split $10,000 between himself and two other players.  Frank passes on the money, so Boogie keeps $6,000, gives $3,000 to Ian, and $1,000 to Jenn.  Ian gets emotional about it; it clearly means a lot to him, and it's sweet to watch.

The final task involves moving a switch back and forth with your tongue.  One of the houseguests comments that Dan has a tiny tongue.  Dan loses.  He gets to choose five other houseguests to have a sushi and cocktail party with him.  He chooses the three other coaches because he doesn't want them talking to the other players without him, Danielle, and Shane.  I was impressed at how strategically he can think on the spot.

Janelle wins the coaches competition so she can either choose to trade one of her players or to keep one of her players safe.  She chooses to keep Wil safe this week (so much for Shane's plan to get Wil out of the house).

Janelle goes up to the HoH room to talk with Brittney and Shane about keeping her players safe this week.  She offers a deal to keep Shane safe next week if he doesn't put her players on the block this week.  She wants to try to rebuild her friendship with Brittney, but the only reason she wants to be friends now is because it serves her interests.

Boogie comes up to talk with Brittney and Shane next.  Brittney asks him why they should trust that he won't get back with Janelle's team next week?  She doesn't believe a thing either Boogie or Frank have to say to them.

While Shane is trying to decide who to nominate, he keeps getting called to the diary room to make his decision.  Nobody knows who Shane will be putting up on the block.

Nominations

Shane decides to nominate Ashley and Joe this week.  He tells everyone that Janelle is the only coach who hasn't had any players on the block thus far.  He also wants Ashley and Joe to feel what it's like to go up against a teammate the way he and JoJo had to.

Ashley is very upset she's been nominated and says she didn't think it would be this hard.  Joe vows to get Shane out of the house before he leaves the game.  Frank tells us that he trusts Shane completely now and that he will have Shane's back through the rest of the game.  Those two could make a great team if they can stay loyal to one another.

What did you think about tonight's episode?  What did you think about the nominations?  Please tell me your thoughts in the comments section.
