Big Brother 14 Recap: August 8, 2012: Power of Veto

Tonight's episode of Big Brother 14 was packed with a lot of scheming, game talk, and new alliance building.

After the nomination ceremony where Danielle nominated Wil and Frank this week, Wil is quite angry with Danielle.  Danielle pulls him aside to let him know that he's just a pawn.  She cries and tells Wil how sorry she is.  Wil cries as well.  After they've let it all out, they're better.

Frank is annoyed that he's been nominated for the third time.  He tells us he isn't as big of a threat as everyone seems to think he is.

Ian wants to be in an alliance with Dan, Brittney, Danielle, and Shane.  Dan and Brittney want him to tell them he will completely sever ties with his former coach, Boogie, first.

Brittney starts freaking out when she sees Janelle and Frank talking.  She wonders why Janelle, who has disliked Frank since day one, is having a conversation with him.  She goes up to the HoH room and informs Danielle of what she just witnessed.  Danielle jumps right in and starts freaking out, too.  Dan tries to calm them down, but they seem intent on Janelle bashing for the moment.

Power of Veto Competition

Shane, Jenn, and Ian are picked for the Power of Veto competition while Dan is chosen to be the host.  This week's veto competition has a baseball theme.  The houseguests must take turns throwing balls into boxes with different numbers in them.  Whoever gets the lowest number in each round is eliminated from the competition.  Everyone gets a prize as they are eliminated that another player can steal or trade when he or she is eliminated.

Shane is eliminated in the first round and he wins the Power of Veto.  We all know he won't be holding onto that prize!

Wil is out next and he wins a veto ticket where he is promised to play in the next veto competition.  He decides to trade it for the Power of Veto, which seems futile to me since Danielle and Frank will be stealing it from him later in the competition as they are eliminated.

Jenn is eliminated in the third round and she wins a vacation to Maui.  She decides to keep it.

Ian is out next and he wins a Dog's Life.  He must sleep in a kennel and be walked around on a leash for 24 hours.  He decides to keep it so that the other players will think he's nice.  Boogie is completely perplexed, LOL.

Frank is out next and he wins $5,000.  He trades it for Wil's Power of Veto and prays Danielle doesn't take it from him.  I would have kept the money; there's no way Danielle is going to just let him keep the veto!

Danielle is the winner and she wins a spirit-Tard.  Of course she takes the Power of Veto like I suspected she would.  So Frank gets to wear the Spirit-Tard for the next week.

This week America gets to vote again on what the Have Nots will eat next week.  This week's choices are:

Rice cakes and rutabagas
Onions and Oat bran
Candy canes and cod

You can go to the CBS website to place your vote for free, as always.

After the veto competition, Ian goes up to the HoH room and pledges his loyalty to Dan, Danielle, Brittney, and Shane.  Ian decides to name their little alliance the Quack Pack.  Dan remarks that Ian reminds him of a younger version of himself - quirky, but very loyal and honest.  He tells us he'd like to take this kid to the end of the game.

Boogie approaches Danielle about backdooring Janelle this week.  Danielle seems to like the idea when Boogie suggests that she, him, Dan, Frank, Brittney, and Shane form an alliance.

Boogie then goes to talk to Dan about the idea, but in the middle of their conversation, Janelle and Brittney come into the room to discuss a possible coaches alliance.  Janelle is completely on board until Boogie suggests they evict Wil this week.  He tells her the alliance won't work unless they are all willing to sacrifice their players.  Janelle is speechless (for once).

Dan sees that Janelle is untrustworthy, and that a coaches alliance can't possibly work in this game.

Dan tells Frank that he's about to roll with the two best winners in Big Brother history.  Dan's excited that he and Boogie are back on the same side.

The Quack Pack meets in the HoH room to vote on whether or not to backdoor Janelle this week.  Danielle, Dan, and Ian vote "yes" while Brittney and Shane are indifferent.  Ian believe Frank and Boogie won't nominate any of them next week if they win HoH while Janelle would.  The result: Janelle will be backdoored this week at the veto ceremony.

Later, Danielle, Dan, Frank, Boogie, Brittney, and Shane meet in the HoH room and form their alliance.  They name it the Silent Six.

Power of Veto Ceremony

At the Power of Veto ceremony, Danielle takes Wil off the block and replaces him with Janelle.  Janelle seems more upset about not having on a cute outfit or makeup than she does about being nominated for eviction.

Tomorrow night is the live eviction.
